The neighborhood of the Clot is one of the ten districts of the district of Sant Martí, in the northeast of Barcelona. It is bounded by important streets and avenues such as Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Carrer d'Aragó and Avinguda Meridiana. The Clot is one of the oldest nuclei of Sant Martí, in medieval times it was known as Clotum Melis. The neighborhood had a rural character until the nineteenth century that began the industrialization of Barcelona. At the beginning of the twentieth century the neighborhood had an industrial and working class, with factories and houses, which attracted people from other areas and increased the population of the area. Many of the industries are gone and now the neighborhood has a mainly residential character.
