The district of Les Corts is the fourth of Barcelona’s districts. It sits to the west of the city, demarcated by the districts of Sarriá-Sant Gervasi, Eixample and Sants-Montjuic.
It is the third smallest district with an area of 6.08km2. It comes after Gracia and Ciutat Vella in terms of size. It has the lowest number of residents (82,588).
The district’s origins lie in the old town of Les Corts de Sarrià, made independent from Sarrià in 1836, but annexed to the city of Barcelona at a later time.
The district has traditionally been divided into 10 neighbourhoods, but since 2006 it is formed only by 3 (Les Corts, La Maternitat i San Ramón, and Pedralbes).
The district has a lot of green spaces and points of interest that include the Parc de Les Corts and Camp Nou, FC Barcelona’s stadium.
