Palma de Mallorca is a municipality on Mallorca Island, within the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands. It is located towards the west of the Mediterranean Sea and towards the south-west of Mallorca Island, about 250 km away from the East of the Iberian Peninsula.
It was founded under the name of Palma by Roman consul Quinto Metelo Baleárico. Palma enjoys a warm mediterranean weather, with an average temperature of 18,2 ºC. The non-urban area of the municipality is occupied by forests and scrubland, especially pines.
